Personal Experience & Biography
Hi, I’m Melissa
I believe that meaningful change begins with being truly seen and understood.
Life can leave us carrying painful stories about ourselves, often shaped by our relationships, experiences, families, and the world around us. Sometimes we know intellectually that we want something to change, yet find ourselves repeating familiar patterns or struggling with the same fears and painful emotions.
My approach to therapy is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and the belief that healing is rarely a straight line. At the center of this work is the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted, while exploring what has shaped you without judgment and at your own pace. Together, we can become curious about what is happening beneath the surface and explore new possibilities.
My work is informed by attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral and narrative approaches, mindfulness, and an interest in the connection between our emotional experiences and our bodies. I believe that lasting change involves more than intellectual insight. It can happen as we develop a deeper awareness of our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and lived experience.
Ultimately, I believe that change is less about becoming someone entirely new and more about returning to yourself, beneath the fear, shame, and stories that may have kept you from recognizing who you are. If you feel that I may be able to help you, I’d be honored to take that first step together.
