Biography

Brandon Sands, LPC, NCC, CABA, CFPT, CPSS has been the Director of the Berks County (Pennsylvania) Mental Health Forensic Diversion Program, which he was the main contributor to its development. Over the past 15 years he has implemented specific psycho-forensic parameters to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and reintegration of the Forensic Mental Health Population. He speaks nationally on various topics regarding the training, treatment, education, development and psychopathy of the Mental Health Forensic population. Mr. Sands has developed specified restoration and reintegration services, guidelines, programs and initiatives to assist with national awareness and training for those providing any level of services and support for this population. Some of his focus points are imminent risk hostage negotiations, police training, court testing and evaluations, acute risk profiling and diagnosing.

Along with his work in the psycho-forensics field, Mr. Sands is also a Professor of Psychology for the past 22 years at Alvernia University. He is partner in a practice that serves five counties in Pennsylvania. This small practice drives change for the adult autistic population. Its focus is on delivering professionals to support transitioning autism consumers while they reintegrate into the community.

His treatment focus with Serenity is to embrace all things positive and empowering from the client’s perspective. His approach in treatment will be introducing areas of positive psychology, acceptance-based skills, mindfulness approaches, cognitive behavioral techniques and with an overall willingness on how to learn about our patients at Serenity.
